Crown Royal is the second best-selling whisky in the Diageo portfolio (after Johnnie Walker), with almost 5.5 million cases sold annually.

Northern Harvest Rye debuted in 2015 and has garnered a level of attention unlike any other Canadian whisky. Jim Murray, who describes himself as “the only full-time whisky writer,” gave it a 97.5 in his 2016 Whisky Bible , which was equivalent to “Whisky of the Year.” Northern Harvest Rye is a blended whisky made from 90% rye. According to the producer, “the rye comes from Canadian fields blanketed in winter snow, which has a wonderful effect on the palette.” Whether you agree with the expert’s opinion or not, Northern Harvest Rye is a superbly blended whisky and certainly the most affordable “Whisky of the Year.”

Aroma: light and fragrant, lots of apples, pears, vanilla, caramel, notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, a trace of pencil shavings and dry flowers.

Taste: mild, delicate oak notes, apples, grapefruit, some red berries, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, pepper and a trace of cloves.

Finish : medium long, cinnamon, vanilla and pepper combined with bitterness of oak.
