Product description
The Danish company 1423 World Class Spirits was founded in 2008 by a group of Scotch whisky enthusiasts after they were given a sample of excellent quality rum to try at a whisky festival.
The suspicion then arose that, beyond whisky, there was an incredibly interesting world of rum worth exploring in depth. It all started with a single barrel of rum from Trinidad, which hit the market in early 2009. The acronym SBS stands for "single barrel select", which the Danish bottler has specialised in ever since. The number 1423 in the company's name is the number of the first barrel they bottled. 1423 World Class Spirits quickly gained recognition as a distributor of high-quality rare rums, often offered in cask strength, without caramel colouring.
SBS Barbados 2000 PX Cask Finish is a rum from the West Indies Distillery in Barbados. Made from molasses and distilled in a traditional pot still, it was matured first in a bourbon cask before being placed in a Pedro Ximenez sherry cask. It spent a total of 21 years in casks and was bottled in October 2021 in a limited edition of 186 bottles.
Nose : Heavy chemical accents, such as rubber and furniture varnish. Over time, notes of dark fruits develop, such as red currants and blackberries.
Taste: Similar to the aroma, the initial dark and heavy notes, like rubber, give way over time to fruity notes from the PX sherry cask.
