Maison Hennessy has been around since 1765. It was founded by Irish officer Richard Hennessy, and James, his son, gave the company its current name, Jas Hennessy & Co., in 1813.
In 1971, Hennessy merged with Moët et Chandon to form Moët Hennessy, which in turn was acquired by luxury goods manufacturer Louis Vuitton in 1989, giving birth to LMVH (Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy). Hennessy leads the cognac sales statistics with 8.6 million cases per year (2021); the company has vineyards in four growing regions: Grande and Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. The fourth edition of the Master Blender's Selection presented here saw the light of day in March 2021. Its creator, the master blender Renaud Fillioux de Gironde, inspired by winter, used eaux-de-vie aged for at least five years in first-fill and refill barrels.
