Product description
Although Justerini & Brooks, a wine importer and distributor, joined the ranks of blended whisky producers in the late 1880s with its Club edition, it had to wait over half a century for global success.
J&B Rare turned out to be a bullseye, created with the American consumer emerging from the darkness of national prohibition in mind. This light blend was a perfect match for the taste of Americans and in 1963 its annual sales exceeded one million cases. In our opinion, the bottle presented here comes from the 1970s when the J&B formula contained 42 components, including Macallan, Bowmore and Bunnahabhain, and the brand belonged to the IDV group. Today it is in the Diageo portfolio, and its key components are Auchroisk, Knockando, Strathmill and Glen Spey, while grain distilleries supply the North British and Cameronbridge distilleries.
