Product description
The beginnings of the brand date back to 1790, when the 25-year-old son of a Scottish carpenter, with money borrowed from his father, founded a wine company in London. From the beginning of his business, George Sandeman specialized in port and sherry, eventually building an impeccable reputation that lasts to this day. He was the first to mark barrels of wine with his initials, which was a guarantee of the origin and quality of the products sold. Over time, the company changed its headquarters, always choosing places where its wines had ideal conditions for maturing, even buying a building in Porto, in whose cellars the barrels matured before being shipped to the islands. In the mid-19th century, he started "tawny" wines, and having ideal conditions for storing large quantities of barrels, it is still a recognized model in the production of tawny port, awarded many times over the years. Also during the many years of the company's development, the owners attached great importance to their brand, registering it in England in 1877. The brand's logo, the famous "The Don", dates back to 1928 and still adorns all Sandeman wine labels.
Today, the company continues to thrive, investing in the hotel industry in addition to its vineyards. In 2015, it celebrated its 225th anniversary by releasing a limited edition port. It is also worth mentioning that in 2019, Quinta de Seixo port received 100 points out of 100 from Wine Enthusiast in the United States.

A wine inspired by the rich history of the brand, one of 6 bottles celebrating the people, vision and history of the Sandeman brand. Produced using the traditional method for port, after hand picking and selecting the grapes, the grapes are destemmed and very gently pressed. Maceration on the skins allows for the highest possible extraction of quality components, the whole thing takes place at a strictly controlled temperature of 28 degrees. Traditionally for Sandeman, the moment of adding the alcohol that interrupts the fermentation was ideal to maintain the rich structure of the bouquet and give the product the right body. Very complex and intense on the nose, strong, full of aromas of red and black fruits, with marine accents and refreshing menthol, there are also notes of spices. On the palate, full and harmonious, intense fruit notes intertwine with the spiciness of spices, strong tannin and appropriate acidity. Very long and complex finish, with an accentuated note of cinnamon and chocolate.
It tastes best served at a temperature of 16-18 degrees. It will be a great companion to chocolate-based desserts, including those with the addition of dark fruits. It will also go well with aromatic, creamy cheeses. The wine has a very high aging potential.
