Product description

Black & White is one of the most popular blends of the last century, although current sales are just over 2 million cases per year (2020).

It is the creation of James Buchanan, one of the pioneers of the blended whisky sector. Presented in a black bottle with a white label and served in the British Parliament, it was officially called House of Commons, but consumers referred to it as Black & White, which would soon become the official name. In the 1990s, Buchanan himself developed the whisky logo by placing two terriers in it - a black Scottish and a white Highland. The core of the Black & White formula was Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and Royal Brackla, as well as Convalmore and Glentauchers. In our opinion, the bottle presented here dates from the 1960s and contains whisky bottled at 70 proof British (40% abv).

Nose: delicately floral with a hint of smoke, dried plums, rosehip jam, lemon peel, a handful of dry herbs and a trace of camphor.

Taste : slightly oily, caramel, honey, dried plums and cranberries, white pepper, lemon jam, notes of peat and oak.

Finish : medium long, with notes of caramel, cocoa powder, lemon peel, pepper and to a lesser extent peat smoke.
