Product description
Old Forester is the first bourbon to be released exclusively in sealed bottles. The brand debuted around 1870 and was the creation of George Garvin Brown, founder of Brown-Forman Beverage Company.
At that time, both wholesalers and retailers regularly “spiced” whiskey from the big-name producers with inferior distillates colored with iodine, tobacco, and various “flavorings.” The Old Forester label always bore the words “Distilled by Us Only,” signed by George Garvin Brown. The bourbon is produced at Brown-Forman’s Early Times Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, using a formula of 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley.
Nose : classic bourbon notes of vanilla and caramel, plums, bananas, a trace of coconut flakes, a slice of whole wheat and delicate spicy notes.
Palate : vanilla, caramel, honey, some cherries, toasted rye bread with butter, allspice, traces of tobacco and oak.
Finish: quite long, spicy, with notes of vanilla, caramel, pepper, a bit of ginger, tobacco and oak.
