Inchgower Distillery, based in Buckie in northern Speyside, was founded in 1871. It is now owned by Diageo and, equipped with two pairs of stills, produces over 3 million litres of distillate a year. Since the late 1930s
Inchgower is a key ingredient in Bell's blends, and to this day only 1% of it reaches the market as a single malt, and is not often offered by independent publishers. The Inchgower featured here was distilled on 30th August 2007, aged for over 10 years in two hogsheads (nos. 801155 and 801160), and bottled on 3rd April 2018 by Signatory Vintage at 46% abv as part of their popular The Un-chillfiltered Collection.
Nose : light, malty, damp straw and hay, forest floor, green apples, nut shells, lemon peel, vanilla, hints of licorice and marzipan.
Palate : sweet breakfast cereals, brown sugar, baked apples, mirabelle jam, nougat, lemongrass, a pinch of white pepper and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of cereal, biscuits, salted nuts, lemon peel, hay and oak.
