Product description
Renowned distribution company Douglas Laing & Co. was owned by brothers Stewart and Fred Laing until 2013, but after 40 years of success the brothers decided to split the company assets and operate separately.
The Old Malt Cask range is now owned by Hunter Laing & Co., of which Stewart is chairman. The Tamnavulin on display here, distilled in December 1991, spent over a quarter of a century in a refilled hogshead cask, reference HL 16113. Bottled in October 2019 at cask strength (46.8%) in an edition of 308 bottles. All whiskies offered in the Old Malt Cask range are bottled at natural colour and without chill filtration.
Nose : fresh, slightly mineral, lemons and limes, green apples, quince jam, breakfast cereals, vanilla, green tea, notes of wax, potpourri, hay and oak.
Palate : vanilla, brown sugar, toffee, lemon and orange peel, grapefruit, baked apples sprinkled with cinnamon, white pepper, a touch of ginger, notes of hay and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, caramel, citrus peel, pepper, ginger and a hint of oak.
