Product description

Aberfeldy Distillery is located in the southern Highlands, in the village with which it shares its name. It was built in 1896 by John and Tommy Dewar to supply malt spirits for their blends.

Since 1998, Aberfeldy and Dewar's blends have been owned by Bacardi Ltd. The Exceptional Cask Series is the apple of Stephanie Macleod's eye, the master blender of Aberfeldy Distillery, and consists of single cask, double cask and small batch editions. The whisky presented here, distilled on 27 April 1988 after 16 years in bourbon casks, went to another 4 in Oloroso sherry casks. Bottled at 54% abv for the French distributor Le Comptoir Irlandais on 10 December 2018 in an edition of 594 bottles.

Nose : clear notes of sherry, raisins, sultanas, honey-roasted nuts, apricots, oranges, quince jam, milk chocolate, a touch of cinnamon and cloves, traces of potpourri and oak.

Palate : rich, honey, vanilla, milk chocolate, cappuccino, raisins, nougat, orange jam, pink grapefruit, nutmeg, cloves, notes of tobacco and oak.

Finish: quite long, with notes of honey, cocoa, cinnamon, candied ginger, orange peel and oak.
