- The Milford brand brings memories of Willowbank Distillery founded by the Baker family in Dunedin (New Zealand South Island) in 1974.
Product description
Milford single malt is a remnant of the Willowbank Distillery built in 1974 by the Baker family in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Canadian company Seagram bought it in 1981 and soon the local whisky debuted as Lammerlaw. Despite Seagram's financial support, Willowbank ended distillation in 1997 and was sold to beer producer Foster, who removed the distilling equipment and put the whisky stocks up for auction. The main buyer was the New Zealand Malt Whisky Company, which soon began selling them under the name Milford single malt. The 12-year-old version presented here contains whisky aged in barrels made of white American oak.
