In 1990, the Royal Burgh of Lanark, on the River Clyde, celebrated its 850th anniversary.
To mark the occasion, Auchentoshan Distillery has released a special edition of the 10-year-old whisky presented in stylish stoneware jugs. Auchentoshan Distillery was built in 1823 on the outskirts of Glasgow, its buildings nestling between the Kilpatrick Hills and the River Clyde. The distillery has three stills and can produce 2.5 million litres of distillate per year. It is also the only Scottish distillery to use only three-stage distillation. Since 1984, the distillery has been owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers, now a subsidiary of Beam Suntory.
Aroma: light and delicate, barley malt, vanilla, honey, lemongrass, green apples, gooseberries, notes of fennel, linseed and young oak.
Taste: mild, slightly oily, vanilla, milk fudge, breakfast cereals, lemon and orange peel, apples, a bit of pepper and ginger, hay and oak.
Finish : medium long, with notes of vanilla, toffee, lemongrass, white pepper, a touch of ginger, hay and oak.
