Glengoyne Distillery, approximately 12 miles north of Glasgow, began in 1833 as the Burnfoot Distillery.
It is one of the most attractive sites of its type in Scotland, visited by over 90,000 whisky lovers each year (2018). Since 2003, the plant has been owned by the private company Ian Macleod Distillers and currently produces over 900,000 litres of distillate per year, using around 85% of its distilling capacity. The Glengoyne 14 years old presented here is a limited edition from 2010, finished in German oak. The whisky was bottled at 49% abv and without chill filtration.
Aroma : honey, vanilla, cocoa powder, hazelnuts, raisins, candied lemon peel, cinnamon, cloves, notes of pepper and oak.
Taste : slightly oily, honey, vanilla, roasted nuts and almonds, cinnamon, pepper, lemongrass, candied ginger, notes of licorice and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, vanilla, nuts, pepper, ginger, chamomile tea and oak.
