Product description
Tomatin Distillery is based in the Scottish Highlands, in Inverness-shire. In the 1970s, after two decades of expansion, it was Scotland's largest malt distillery, producing 13 million litres of spirit per year.
In 1985 it went bankrupt and was soon taken over by Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co., which was the first investment of Japanese capital in the production of Scotch whisky. The Japanese reduced production capacity by more than half and began exporting whisky to Japan. Tomatin 10 years old debuted in the late 1980s and remained the core of the basic offer until 2004, when it was replaced by the 12-year-old version. The 10-year-old presented here comes from the late 1980s and was intended for the Italian market.
