Wild Turkey Longbranch 8-year-old, Straight Bourbon (American Market) / 43% / 1.0l

Wild Turkey Longbranch debuted in 2018 and is the result of a collaboration between Matthew McConaughey, famous actor and creative director of Wild Turkey, and Eddie Russell, the local master distiller.

Russell and McConaughey conducted dozens of experiments before deciding to filter the bourbon through two charcoal filtrations, one using American white oak and the other using Texas scrub oak (Texas is the actor’s home state). Longbranch is bottled without an age statement, but a press release says it uses 8-year-old bourbon.

Nose : caramel, maple syrup, vanilla, buttered popcorn, toffee, nutmeg, cinnamon, a dash of pepper and charred oak.

Palate: sweet, oranges, pears, caramelized apples, honey, milkshake, cinnamon, cocoa powder, charred oak and a hint of leather.

Finish: medium long, caramel, buttered grilled corn, a pinch of spice, charred oak and a distant hint of smoke.
