Product description
Throughout the 20th century, Tamdhu Distillery was owned by The Highland Distillery Company and almost all of the whisky produced there went into popular blends including Cutty Sark, Famous Grouse and J&B.
The 1970s saw a major expansion, with the number of stills tripling to six and production capacity rising to 4 million litres per year. In 2009, the then owner, The Edrington Group, ceased distilling and sold the distillery to Ian Macleod Distillers two years later. Tamdhu, presented here, is Douglas Laing & Co.’s ‘Old Particular’ offering. Distilled in March 2004, it spent 15 years in a refilled butt cask DL 13068, and was bottled in March 2019 in an 84-bottle run. (Producer’s tasting note.)
Nose : brown sugar, golden syrup, strawberry sponge cake and polished oak.
Palate: Our true Scallywag! Juicy dark berries, pepper, and a touch of charred oak.
Finish: Speyside at its best – cocoa, dark chocolate, more dark berries and barley sweetness.
