Product description
Bowmore Mariner 15 years old debuted at the end of the last century and was intended to fill the gap between the 12 and 17 years old versions.
Its name refers to the bourbon casks that cross the Atlantic to be used by Scottish producers to mature their whiskies. Mariner was aged primarily in bourbon casks with a small amount of sherry, and the one presented here dates from 2007-2014 (in 2007 the distillery introduced a new label design, and seven years later Mariner was withdrawn from the range). Today, the whisky is increasingly hard to find.
Nose : smoky, slightly hospital, toffee, green apples, traces of nutmeg and cedar wood from a cigar box.
Taste : creamy, yet smoky, baked apples and pears, brine, light nutty note.
Finish : long and warming, peat, oak and a shy note of honey.
