Product description
In November 2017, construction of the new The Macallan Distillery was completed at a cost of £140 million.
This state-of-the-art facility, equipped with 36 stills, is capable of producing 15 million litres of distillate per year, and visitors are greeted by an impressive display of over 400 bottles of The Macallan. The old distillery has ceased production, but its dormant potential of 11 million litres of alcohol per year can be reactivated at any time. The brand's popularity has been growing every year, with 10.8 million bottles sold in 2017, an 8.7% increase over the previous year. The Macallan Aera presented here was released in 2018 in Taiwan. The vast majority of the whisky used in this edition came from European and American oak casks seasoned with sherry.
Nose: beautifully balanced, oranges, grapefruits, passion fruit, dried apricots and plums, dark chocolate, notes of tobacco and nutmeg.
Taste: rich, honey, milk chocolate, banana cake, candied orange peel, dried apricots, dates and figs, raisins, a pinch of pepper and nutmeg.
Finish: quite long and complex, an extension of the flavour palette, with the addition of sherry-soaked oak.
