Product description
St. Magdalene, the now legendary Lowlands distillery, operated in the town of Linlithgow from 1795 to 1983. By the standards of the time it was a large plant, with 5 stills producing around 1.3 million litres of alcohol per year.
The 1980s saw a major crisis in the whisky market, with overstock and lack of demand causing over 30 distilleries to close, including St. Magdalene. The property is now occupied by residential buildings. The whisky presented here was distilled in October 1982 and spent 26 years in a refill butt cask, number 3906. Bottled in May 2009 by Ian Macleod Distillers in their Dun Bheagan series in an edition of 390 bottles.
