Product description
High West the 36th Vote is a ready-to-serve bottled Manhattan cocktail. Its formula calls for two parts rye whiskey (95% rye), one part sweet vermouth, and a few drops of Angostura bitters.
The blend is then placed in rye whiskey barrels for 90-120 days, then bottled at 37% ABV. The name “The 36th Vote” refers to the date of December 5, 1933, when the Utah delegation led by SR Thurman, president of the Utah League for Prohibition Repeal, became the 36th state to vote in favor of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution, ending Prohibition in the country. High West Distillery chose Manhattan to commemorate the 85th anniversary of the end of the “noble experiment” because of its “unique status and timelessness.” (Producer’s tasting note.)
