Product description
In 1952, a group of wine producers from the Merano area founded the Meran Cellar cooperative to improve both quality and production efficiency. It soon included 200 vineyard owners cultivating vines on 140 hectares. A turning point in the history of Meran Cellar came in 1992, when Stefan Kapfinger took over as head of production. He did a titanic job of testing vineyards and deciding which ones to assign to a specific grape variety, and he also spent a lot of time working on improving the quality of the wines produced. In June 2010, Meran Cellar merged with another local cooperative operating since 1901, Burggräfler Winery. The new formation is called Meran Burggräfler Winery and brings together 380 producers with a total area of 260 hectares of vineyards. Its best wines are marketed under the Meran brand. Festival is Meran’s “classic series” consisting of six white wines, six red wines and one rosé.
Meran Festival Weissburgunder 2017 is made from 100% Pinot Blanc. The grapes come from the vineyards of Marling, Merano, Dorf Tirol and Labers located at an altitude of 450-500 m above sea level.
It is a wine with a slightly waxy palette, with notes of apples, peaches, oranges and nectarines, a bit of herbs, hay and a hint of minerals.
To be served at 10-12ºC with light appetizers, baked halibut and seafood paste. Ready to drink from now until 2020.
