Product description
The Real Mackenzie is an old blended whisky brand from the portfolio of Peter Mackenzie & Co. The Mackenzie family began their whisky business in 1826.
Exactly 60 years later, it bought the Blair Athol distillery, which soon became its blending centre. In 1895, Peter Mackenzie and a group of investors built the Dufftown Distillery, and soon the Blair Athol and Dufftown malts would form the backbone of the family blends . In 1933, Arthur Bell & Sons acquired all of Mackenzie & Co.'s assets for £56,000, and today, after several mergers in the industry, both belong to Diageo. The latter owns the Real Mackenzie brand, although it is not in the current sales offer. The bottle shown here is from the 1980s.
