The Real Mackenzie is an old blended whisky brand from Peter Mackenzie & Co. portfolio. The Mackenzies entered whisky business in the 1820s; in 1886 they acquired Blair Athol Distillery and turned it into center of their blending whisky operation.
In 1895 Peter Mackenzie co-founded Dufftown Distillery and Blair Athol and Dufftown malts have been backbone of Mackenzie blends ever since. Arthur Bell & Sons acquired Mackenzie & Co. in 1933 for £56,000 and after further mergers Arthur Bell & Sons became part of Diageo. Nowadays The Real Mackenzie brand is owned by Diageo but is not listed in the current offer. The bottle presented here was filled in the 1980s.
