Product description
Blended malt Highland Journey debuted in 2014 in the offering of Hunter Laing & Co., founded by Stewart Laing after parting ways with the parent company Douglas Laing & Co.
The whisky's name refers to a 1950s trip to the Scottish Highlands by Stewart and his father (a whisky broker) to visit the region's distilleries. The Highland Journey formula, developed by Stewart and Tom Aitken, formerly John Dewar & Sons' blender, lists several Highland single malts, including Blair Athol, Clynelish and Teaninich. The whiskies used in the blend were aged in bourbon and sherry casks for between five and 15 years.
Nose: toffee, vanilla, breakfast cereals, caramel, bananas, raisins, baked apples and pears, almond butter and a hint of hay.
Palate: sweet with a hint of spice, vanilla, crème brûlée, apples, pineapples, banana cake, cinnamon, a touch of pepper and muted notes of sherry.
Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, vanilla, almonds and cappuccino.
