Westland Distillery, founded in 2010 by Matt Hoffmann and Emerson Lamb, is located in Seattle in Washington State. Since it’s founding the distillery production has grown significantly, from five barrels a week to six barrels a day. In the late 2016 Westland Distillery was acquired by French drink company Rèmy Cointreau, which four years earlier purchased Bruichladdich Distillery. Westland Sherry Wood was added to the range in 2014. The whisky is distilled from mash containing six malts: Washington Pale, Munich, Extra Special, Pale Chocolate, Brown and Peated and is aged predominantly in ex-Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks with a little addition of ex-bourbon casks.

Nose: soft with somehow restrained sherry notes, oranges, bananas, cherries, raisins, honey and drop of soy sauce.

Palate: stronger sherry statement, raisins, breakfast cereals with honey, maple syrup, sweet pastries, stewed apples and plums.

Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, milk chocolate, raisins and delicate herbal note.
