Product description
Westland Distillery, based in Seattle, Washington, is a 2010 investment by Matt Hoffmann and Emerson Lamb.
It began distilling a year later, and its single malt debuted in the fall of 2013 and was met with a warm reception from whisky lovers. This fact undoubtedly did not escape the attention of the owners of the Rèmy Cointreau company, which in 2016 purchased Westland Distillery along with the stocks and rights to the whiskey produced there. Since 2014, Westland's basic offer has included three whiskeys - American Oak, Peated Malt and the Sherry Wood presented here. The latter is distilled from a blend of six different malts (Washington Pale, Munich, Extra Special, Pale Chocolate, Brown and Peated) and aged in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks with a small addition of bourbon casks.
Nose: mild with a slightly subdued note of sherry, oranges, bananas, cherries, raisins, honey and a drop of soy sauce.
Palate: stronger sherry tones, raisins, breakfast cereal with honey, maple syrup, buttered rolls, baked apples and plums.
Finish: medium long, with notes of honey, milk chocolate, raisins and a subtle herbal note.
