Hochstadter's Vatted Straight Rye whiskey 50%/ 0.75l

Hochstadter's Vatted Straight Rye is a product of Cooper Spirits, an American independent bottler based in Philadelphia.

It is a blend of five rye whiskeys from distilleries in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Alberta Distillery in Canada, aged for 4 to 15 years, and is the first vatted rye whiskey. Robert Cooper, owner and third-generation distiller, admits that the inspiration was Scottish vatted (now blended) malts. Hochstadter's Vatted Rye debuted in 2015, bottled at 100 US Proof, or 50% abv. Cooper Stills also lists Hochstadter's Slow & Low, Family Reserve and Lock Stock & Barrel.

Nose: black cherries, plums, bitter orange jam, cloves, nutmeg, vanilla, dark chocolate and a hint of charred oak.

Taste: fruity and spicy, cherries, apples, caramel, cinnamon, cloves, pipe tobacco, notes of mint and oak.

Finish : medium long, with notes of cinnamon, caramel and cherry complemented by the bitterness of oak.
