Product description
Braeval, built in 1973 as Braes of Glenlivet, is one of four distilleries based in the Livet River Valley (the others being Glenlivet, Tamnavulin and Tomintoul).
It produces around 4 million litres of alcohol per year, and almost all of the distillate goes into Chivas blends. For this reason, the Braeval single malt is not officially bottled, and is also rarely available from independent distributors. The 1995 Vintage Edition is Gordon & MacPhail's 2013 offering in the hugely popular Connoisseurs Choice series. The whisky spent 18 years in refilled sherry hogshead casks.
Aroma: fresh and "summer" with a delicate note of sherry, juicy apples and pears, kiwi, kasaba melon, lemongrass, traces of vanilla and oak.
Palate: a basket of ripe fruit, apples, grapes and peaches, honey, vanilla, milk chocolate, lemon jam, traces of pepper and candied ginger and a hint of licorice.
Finish: medium long, sweet, apples, grapes, vanilla and delicate oak bitterness.
