Druichan Islay 10-year-old / 40% / 0.7l
- Druichan is another mysterious whisky released by Invergordon Distillers as a part of their Malts of Scotland range.
Product description
Druichan is another entry in Invergordon Distillers’ mysterious Malts of Scotland series. As with other editions such as Ferintosh and Glenluig, the company does not reveal the source of the distillate, only the region.
In the case of the Druichan presented here, it is the Isle of Islay. According to the information on the counter-label, the whisky is named after the Druich River flowing in the northern part of the island, which is not entirely true, because the river is called Duich. We think that Druichan whisky comes from Bruichladdich Distillery, which Invergordon Distillers bought in 1968. After the acquisition of Invergordon's assets by Whyte & Mackay in 1993, Bruichladdich remained in its portfolio until the end of the century. Other editions of Malts of Scotland were based on whiskies from distilleries associated with Invergordon - we know that the Ferintosh brand stands for Tamnavulin, Glenluig is an alternative version of Dalmore, and Craignure is most likely Jura. Druichan 10 years old debuted on the Spanish market, after which it was distributed in other countries of the European Union.
