Glenfiddich Vintage Cask Collection / 40% / 0.7l

In 2013, the management of Glenfiddich Distillery decided to withdraw the 12 year old, 15 year old Solera Reserve and 14 year old Rich Oak versions from the Travel Retail chain and replace them with The Cask Collection edition.

It contained three whiskies aged in different types of casks, blended in a solera and bottled without an age statement. According to the distillery, “these are incredibly innovative products, breaking new ground in the single malt category.” Glenfiddich Vintage Cask is a blend of sherry-cask-aged and slightly peatier bourbon-cask-aged spirits, blended before bottling in a solera.

Nose : peat and barley malt, vanilla, honey, mixed berry jam, lemongrass, traces of cinnamon and oak.

Taste: nicely balanced, summer fruits, vanilla, sweet breakfast cereals, lemon tart and a lot of peat smoke in the background.

Finish : medium long, fresh fruit wrapped in peat smoke.
