Product description
Talisker Distillery was founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. It is based on Skye, the largest and most northerly island of the Inner Hebrides.
Today, the plant is owned by Diageo and, equipped with five stills, produces 2.7 million litres of distillate annually. Talisker single malt remained largely unknown until 1988, when then owner United Distillers included a 10-year-old version in the original Classic Malts series. Port Ruighe, named after the largest town on the Isle of Skye, debuted in 2013. The whisky was aged in American and European oak barrels and finished in ruby port barrels.
Aroma: expressive, dry rose petals, dried plums, raisins, raspberry mousse, salted caramels, a bit of pepper and peat and a breath of sea breeze.
Palate: slightly winey, mixed berries, chocolate-coated raisins, caramel, toffee, gingerbread, some peat smoke and light mineral tones.
Finish : long, peaty and smoky, with notes of raisins, prunes, cocoa and oak.
