Based in Elgin, Speyside, Linkwood Distillery has been producing whisky since 1821.
The local single malt definitely does not lead the sales statistics, but for years it has been receiving the highest marks in the blender community . The distillery belongs to Diageo and almost 98% of its production is "consumed" by the company's blends . The Linkwood 30 years old presented here is the fourth and last edition of this whisky in the Rare Malts series . The whisky distilled in 1974 hit the market in 2005, bottled in the cask strength version (54.9% abv). The edition consisted of 6 thousand bottles. 2005 was the last year for Rare Malts , which immediately became the object of interest of collectors.
Nose: quite fresh, floral, forest floor, a bit of hay, dry rose petals, apples, tangerines, vanilla, toffee, milk chocolate, oak and a hint of smoke in the background.
Taste : fruity and spicy, oranges, apples, gooseberries, honeydew melon, vanilla cream, chocolate-coated raisins, pepper, a trace of cloves, notes of oak and peat.
Finish: quite long, oaky and spicy, nutmeg, ginger, traces of hay and peat.
