Ardbeg Alligator (2011 Release) / 51.2% / 0.7l

Alligator is nothing more than the wild side of Ardbeg. It debuted in 2011, and its name refers to the barrels used in the maturation process, made of white American oak and heavily charred (so-called alligator char ).

Indeed, the inside of a barrel so charred resembles alligator skin. Alligator has no age statement, supposedly distillates 10 years and older were used, and it is bottled at its original alcohol content (51.2%) and without cold filtration.

Nose: charred wood, notes of peat, citrus, caramel and vanilla.

Palate: Strong peat smoke with charcoal notes, caramelized orange peel, grapefruit, ginger, cocoa and crunchy biscuits.

Finish : rich and sweet, creamy, peppery and peaty notes.
