Product description
Bruichladdich, one of the most creative whisky producers of the new millennium, has been offering editions based on barley grown by local farmers since 2011, in addition to its three single malts with different profiles (Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore).
The eighth edition of Bruichladdich Islay Barley presented here was released in autumn 2021. The barley used (Concerto variety, harvested 2012) came from seven farms on the island – Coull, Rockside, Island, Mulindry, Cruach, Dunlossit and Sunderland. The whisky was distilled in 2013 and aged for eight years in first-fill bourbon barrels (75%) and in Ribera del Duero, Syrah and Pauillac wine barrels (25%). The Islay Barley editions are bottled with natural colour and without chill filtration, at 50% abv.
