Sports car enthusiasts tend to have a similar affection for whisky, hence the decision by Bowmore Distillery and the Aston Martin Lagonda holding company to release joint single malt editions may create a new market trend.

It is possible that Ferrari and Bugatti are already warming up the engines of their racing cars on the narrow roads of Islay, and Rolls-Royce is majestically entering the gates of Macallan. The first fruit of the Bowmore and Aston Martin collaboration, the Black Bowmore DB5 1964, hit the market in 2020 in an edition of just 27 bottles (priced at over £50,000). A year later, Travel Retail customers received something more affordable, yet equally elegant – three versions of the Bowmore from the basic offer with labels inspired by Aston Martin models. Bowmore Golden & Elegant 15 years old is dedicated to the Aston Martin Atom; it was the first European so-called “concept car” produced in 1939-1940. The whisky comes from first-fill bourbon barrels.

Aroma : fresh and elegant, delicate notes of peat and iodine, vanilla, honey, salted caramels, lemons, peaches, bananas, apples, traces of tobacco and leather.

Palate : rich and well-balanced, honey, vanilla, golden syrup, salted nuts, oranges, bananas, a handful of herbs, a trace of oak and distant notes of smoke.

Finish : quite long, with notes of citrus, vanilla, sea salt, a pinch of spices and peat smoke in the background.
