- Al-Capone is an old blended whisky brand produced by Burn Stewart Distillers in the late 20th Century.
Product description
Al.-Capone is a blended whisky brand from the Burn Stewart Distillers portfolio, produced mainly for export (it is not listed in the current offer).
The company was founded in 1948 in London as a whisky broker, and soon began blending and exporting. Burn Stewart's greatest success in the blending category remains Scottish Leader, available in over 80 countries worldwide. In 1990, Burn Stewart Distillers acquired the Deanston distillery in the southern Highlands, and two years later Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. The portfolio was completed by the acquisition of Bunnahabhain Distillery and the Black Bottle blend in 2003.
The Al-Capone presented here comes from the 90s, in our opinion, and was composed of malt and grain distillates aged for at least 12 years. Unfortunately, we do not know the formula for this whisky, most likely its main component is Deanston, perhaps Tobermory. Other Burn Stewart blends from that period also included Miltonduff and Aberfeldy, perhaps the blender considered them worthy of representing one of the greatest bootleggers of Prohibition-era America. As suggested on the label... we do not comment.
