Product description
In Old Norse, Jura means "deer island" and to this day there are 20 deer for every two hundred inhabitants of the island.
Jura Distillery, built in 1810, struggled throughout the 19th century, and its buildings were empty from 1901 to 1960. The last decade has seen unprecedented success for the whisky, with sales increasing from 350,000 to 2 million bottles, making it the third most popular single malt in the UK (after Glenfiddich and Glenmorangie). Jura 1988 Rare Vintage is a drink from another era. The whisky spent 28 years in bourbon barrels, then spent another two years in tawny port barrels from Symington Family Estates. Bottled at 53.5% abv in 2018 in an edition of 1,406 bottles.
