In April 2018 Jura Distillery released the Sherry Cask Collection exclusively for Travel Retail. The range consist of four expressions named after features of the Isle of Jura.
All four have been matured in white American oak casks and finished in Pedro Ximénez casks. The Paps of Jura are the most recognizable landmark of the island, dominating the landscape of the entire Isle of Jura. They are three mountains on western side of Jura with the highest point 2,575 feet. The word “pap” is an ancient word of Old Norse origin of the breast. The whisky was aged for 19 years in white American oak barrels and finished in casks, which held Pedro Ximénez sherry for 40 years.
Nose: quite powerful, vanilla, butterscotch, milk chocolate, oranges, honeydew melon, ripe pears and grapes and hints of candied ginger.
Palate: rich, apricots, dried figs and dates, oranges, sultanas, honey-roasted almonds, caramel, milk chocolate, hints of allspice and nutmeg.
Finish: pretty long, with notes of ripe juicy fruits, honey, raisins, mixed nuts, nutmeg, hints of tobacco and oak.
