Product description
Chivas Regal debuted in 1909, 16 years after the death of Alexander, the last of the Chivas dynasty.
It was a 25-year-old blended whisky, formulated by the company’s blending master, Charles Howard. It was immediately hailed as “the first luxury Scottish blend” for the upper echelons of society on both sides of the Atlantic. After World War I, Chivas Regal returned as a 12-year-old blend and remains a key part of the core range to this day. Today’s formula is built around the single malt Strathisla, with other key ingredients including Tormore, Braeval and Allt-a-Bhainne, and Longmorn as the finishing touch. The main grain whisky supplier is the Strathclyde Distillery, owned by Pernod Ricard. With annual sales of 4.4 million cases, Chivas Regal is one of the leaders in the premium blend segment. The massive 4.5-litre bottle of Chivas Regal 12 Year Old, presented here, rests on the company’s “cradle”.
