Shieldaig is a whisky brand (not a distillery) from Ian Macleod Distillers. This single malt comes from an undisclosed Speyside distillery and is bottled in the town of Shieldaig in the northern Highlands.
The word "Shieldaig" comes from the Old Norse language and means "Bay of Herring". The whisky is bottled by William Maxwell & Co. Ltd, owned by Ian Macleod Distillers. The Shieldaig brand also includes single malts from the Islay and Highlands distilleries and The Classic Blended Whisky. Ian Macleod Distillers is based in Broxburn and owns two Scottish distilleries - Glengoyne in the Highlands and Tamdhu in Speyside.
Aroma: sweet, malty, honey, vanilla, apples, pears, orange peel, sweet bread and a hint of oak.
Taste : sweet breakfast cereals, caramel, vanilla, sugared nuts, orange jam, peaches and white pepper.
Finish : medium long, malty, with notes of apple, orange, blend, pepper and oak.
