Jim Beam Rye Pre-Prohibition

Jim Beam Rye Pre-Prohibition / 40% /

Rye whiskey, once the national drink of Americans, fell into oblivion after the end of Prohibition.

It wasn't until the bourbon renaissance of the early 21st century that it came to the attention of consumers, and catalyzed producers to enhance their commercial offerings with it. (Until 20 years ago, straight rye was produced by just three distilleries, each for a few days a year.) Jim Beam has offered several variants of rye whiskey over the years. In early 2015, the company phased out the standard Jim Beam Rye (Yellow Label) and replaced it with Pre-prohibition Rye, reportedly distilled according to a different recipe. This one, however, Beam did not disclose, assuring only that its rye content is a minimum of 51% (as required by regulation).
