- Glen Mhor Distillery ceased operations in 1983 and the brand slowly goes into oblivion.
Product description
Glen Mhor Distillery has not produced whisky since 1983 and the memory of it is slowly fading. Probably many a young whisky lover has never had the chance to come across it. And that's a shame.
Glen Mhor single malt made a huge impression on Neil Gunn, the Scottish poet and writer who briefly worked at the distillery as an excise officer. “Until you’ve had the good fortune to taste a perfectly mature whisky, you don’t really know what it’s like,” he wrote of Glen Mhor single malt. Here we present the whisky the poet referred to – distilled in 1975, aged for 34 years in cask no. 6034 and bottled by Duncan Taylor Ltd. in the prestigious Tantalus series.
Nose: "old school", wax, wood filler, hay, green apples, bananas, almonds, old leather couch, polished oak and a handful of herbs from the garden.
Taste: fruity and herbal, slightly vegetable, gooseberries, apples, lemon grass, green tea, traces of nutmeg and licorice and a wonderfully woven bitterness of oak.
Finish: long, herbal and oaky, with notes of lemon peel, white pepper and green fruits.
