The Hirsch brand, we should say A.H. Hirsch, was originally associated with bourbon and rye whiskey from Michter’s Distillery located in Shaefferstown, Pennsylvania. Adolf H. Hirsch was a senior executive at Schenley Corporation who purchased the stock from the Michter’s Distillery and sold it later under his name. In the 21st Century A.H. Hirsch is one of the most collectible brands. The brand changed names a couple of times and finally end up in Preiss Imports portfolio. In the last few years Preiss released several expressions of Hirsch whiskey. Hirsh Selection Special Reserve comprises whiskey distilled with a bourbon mashbill in Illinois and barreled on February 27, 1987. It was aged in refill casks for 20 years and bottled at 96 US Proof (48% abv). The run was limited to 120 casks.
