The origins of Langatun Distillery are going back to 1857, when Jakob Baumberger returned home from his studies in Munich with the title of master brewer and started brewing and distilling on his father’s farm. In 1860 he took over a small brewery in Langenthal, a village in Bern canton originally called Langatun. Nearly 150 years later, in 2007, master brewer and distiller Hans Baumberger III decided to follow up his grandfather footsteps with creating Langatun single malt. Old Deer is a “classic” version of Langatun whisky, distilled from un-peated malt fermented with specially selected English Stout yeast and aged in combination of ex-sherry and ex-Chardonnay casks.
