Yamazaki, the first Japanese malt whisky distillery, was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. His mission was to design whisky suitable for the Japanese palate but in the 21st Century Yamazaki became one of the most cherished single malts in the world. The unexpected success has its price, lack of inventory of well-aged whiskies. However technically NAS whisky, Yamazaki Limited Edition 2014 is a vatting of 20 years old sherry wood malts, 20 years old port wood malts and young malts aged in bourbon casks. No details regarding the latter (such as age and proportion used in the vatting) have been revealed.
