Lagavulin 16 years old was included in the original Classic Malts series launched by United Distillers in 1988. Ten years later Classic Malts were supplemented with Distillers Edition containing the same whiskies but finished in various types of wood. Lagavulin’s choice were ex-Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, what created an interesting combination of smoky, peated malt with sweet sherry notes. Lagavulin 1990 Vintage was part of the 2006 Distillers Edition release.
