Knappogue Castle Irish Whiskey was named after a 15th-century castle in Clare Country in Ireland. The 14-year-old expression of the triple distilled Irish malt whiskey was matured partially in ex-bourbon and partially in ex-oloroso sherry casks. Bottled with no chill-filtering at 46% vol. This particular bottle was packaged in an decorative wooden box.
Nose: Distinctly fruity – mangoes, honey melons, peaches and plums. Some delicate citrus. Freshly cut grass, vanilla and wax.
Palate: Very delicate and smooth. Citrus fruit, mainly tangerines, grapes, some herbs.
Finish: The fruity notes are back, then they fade and give way to herbal notes, some spice and slight bitterness.
