Tamdhu Distillery is located in Knockando, Speyside. Since 2011 it is owned by Ian Macleod Distillers, owners of Glengoyne Distillery. Tamdhu is equipped with three pairs of stills capable of distilling 4 million liters of spirit per annum, but currently (2016) uses about 75% of its capacity. The distillery was founded in the late 19th Century to supply malt to various blended whiskies, such as Johnnie Walker, Dewar’s and VAT 69. Tamdhu single malt was never widely available but blenders kept it in high regard. The 10 years old expression was re-launched in 2013, as the first official release from the new owners. It contains whisky aged in sherry wood, a combination of European and American oak casks, predominantly second fill.
