West Cork Distillers was founded in 2003 in Union Hall, south-western part of Cork County. Their first whiskey, Kennedy’s Irish Whiskey, was launched as early as 2004. The distillery moved its headquarters to the nearby town of Skibereen in 2013, looking for a greater expansion possibilities. At present, their whiskey, vodka, gin and traditional Irish poitín are available in 35 countries across the globe.
West Cork Original Irish Whiskey Classic Blend is – as the very name suggests – a classic, triple distilled Irish whiskey, made from malt, pot still and grain spirits. Matured in ex-bourbon casks.
Nose: Bourbon cask derived vanilla notes in the foreground, but also fresh hay, biscuits, glue and peaches.
Palate: A vanilla base, with fruit notes, mainly pears and peaches, some grassy notes and caramel.
Finish: Not too long. The fruit fade out and some slight pepper appears.
