Invergordon is the only Scottish grain distillery located in Highlands (a few miles north of Inverness). It was established in 1959 and originally equipped with a single, tall column still. Two more were added in 1963 and the fourth and largest one in 1978. Invergordon 1966 was bottled in 2010 as part of The Clan Denny series, the range of single grain (and recently blended malt) whiskies introduced by The Hunter Hamilton Co., subsidiary of Douglas Laing & Co. The whisky spent 44 years in refill barrel no. HH 4995 and was bottled at natural strength of 46.8% abv and without chill-filtration.
