Garnheath Grain Distillery was built in 1964 by Inver House Distillers as part of the Moffat distilling complex, which included malt distillery (Glen Flagler and Killyloch brands), 32 warehouses, blending facility, bottling plant and Moffat maltings. The initial distillation took place the following year and throughout the 1960s and early 1970s the place thrived. The decline and over capacity of the industry hit the company severely; the distillery closed in 1986 and was subsequently demolished two years later. The 1969 Vintage is one of the few expressions of Garnheath single grain. The whisky was aged in refill hogshead no. 5538 for 40 years and bottled at natural strength of 47.9% abv as part of the Clan Denny range.
